Privacy and cookie policy

Analytics on this site runs only with your consent. Below I explain exactly what I collect, why, who receives it and for how long.

Who is responsible for your data

The controller of your data is me, Łukasz Rogala, trading as SEO Consulting Łukasz Rogala, tax ID (NIP) 8672186736. For anything related to your data, write to e-mail.

What happens without your consent

Without consent the site sends no data to Google or Microsoft and stores no cookies. It still works in full, including the Markdown versions of the articles.

The hosting server keeps standard logs of every request. These are the IP address, date and time, page address, browser (User-Agent), referring page and server response code. I use them for security, troubleshooting and analysing bot traffic. The legal basis is my legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The hosting provider kru.pl keeps the logs under its own rules, and the copies I download to analyse bot traffic I keep for up to 12 months.

Your choice on the banner is stored in your browser (localStorage, key rp-zgoda), not in a cookie. It stays on your device, is never sent to the server, and after 12 months the banner asks again.

The "Ask AI" buttons under the articles open ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity in a new tab. All they pass on is a prompt with the article address. Nothing reaches these services until you click, and after you click their privacy rules apply.

If you email me, I process your address and the content of your message in order to reply. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and my email runs on Google Workspace. I keep the correspondence while the matter is open and afterwards for as long as the law or protection against claims requires.

Analytics with your consent

After you click "Accept", the site loads Google Tag Manager and, through it, Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. I use them to learn which articles people read, where they come from and where the site gets in their way, so I can improve it. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and the Polish Electronic Communications Law on access to information stored on your device.

Google Analytics 4 collects data about page views and actions on the site. This covers the pages visited, the traffic source, time on page, scroll depth, clicks on contact links, on the "Ask AI" buttons and on the language switch, the topic of the article and whether it was read to the end (90% of the text and at least 2 minutes), plus device type, brand and model, operating system, browser, screen resolution, language and approximate location (country, region, city). It also measures how fast the page loads and responds (the Core Web Vitals LCP, INP and CLS) together with the page element each result refers to; the script for this measurement loads from rogala.pro, not from a third-party server. According to Google, GA4 does not store IP addresses. Google signals and sharing data with Google for other purposes are switched off, and advertising consent is always denied.

Microsoft Clarity shows how you use the site: clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, heatmaps and session recordings. It also collects device type, browser, operating system and approximate location. The site has no forms, and Clarity has masking of sensitive content switched on for recordings.

Once a day I copy the Google Analytics 4 event data to Google BigQuery, in the European Union region. It is the same pseudonymous data as in GA4, without IP addresses or advertising data, and the copy lets me analyse it for longer than GA4 allows.

Cookies

These cookies are set only after you consent:

  • _ga (Google Analytics) - distinguishes browsers, expires after up to 2 years (Chrome caps it at 400 days).
  • _ga_YN2KWDR82F (Google Analytics) - keeps the session state, expires after up to 2 years (Chrome caps it at 400 days).
  • _clck (Microsoft Clarity) - browser identifier and Clarity settings, expires after 1 year.
  • _clsk (Microsoft Clarity) - joins page views into one session, expires after 1 day.
  • CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID, SM (Microsoft, on the clarity.ms and bing.com domains) - Microsoft may set these while Clarity runs, described in the Clarity documentation.

Who receives the data

Google and Microsoft may transfer data to their companies in the United States. The transfers rely on the European Commission adequacy decision (EU-US Data Privacy Framework) and standard contractual clauses.

How long data is kept

  • Google Analytics 4: user-level and event-level data for 14 months, aggregated reports longer.
  • Copy of the event data in BigQuery: 26 months.
  • Microsoft Clarity: recordings for 30 days, recordings marked as favourites and a random sample of recordings for up to 9 months.
  • Your banner choice: 12 months in your browser.
  • Server logs: at kru.pl under the provider's rules, my copies for up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can withdraw consent at any time with the "Cookie settings" button in the site footer. The site then deletes the GA4 and Clarity cookies and stops loading these tools, including the page speed measurement. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to e-mail. Analytics data is pseudonymous, so to find it I may ask for the identifier from your _ga cookie. You can also lodge a complaint with the Polish data protection authority, Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa), or with the authority in your country.

I do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing, including profiling.
